Focus on HER3 and prognosis
HER3 expression has been shown to correlate with overall survival in ovarian cancer

In a 2006 study by Tanner et al, high HER3 expression (defined as a Rajkumar score >8) was significantly correlated with shorter overall survival (P=0.0034) in 116 patients with primary epithelial ovarian cancer.2 Modified with permission from J Clin Oncol vol. 24(26), 2006:4317-4323.
HER3 is a negative prognostic factor
While the relationship between HER3 and prognosis has not been as broadly investigated as with HER1/EGFR and HER2, recent studies suggest that HER3 is a negative prognostic factor in breast and ovarian cancer.
- In patients with primary epithelial ovarian cancer (N=116), high HER3 expression has been shown to correlate with shorter overall survival (P=0.0034)2
- In 402 patients with estrogen receptor–positive breast cancer treated with tamoxifen, HER3-positive status was significantly associated with shorter disease-free survival (P=0.0278)10
